We switched from the Form 3B+ and the speed increase is incredible. Models that used to take 3 hours now finish in under an hour with the same accuracy we've come to expect from Formlabs.
The Formlabs Form 4 delivers a substantial leap in speed and reliability over its predecessors while maintaining the exceptional print quality Formlabs is known for.
Bench unitThe Formlabs Form 4 delivers a substantial leap in speed and reliability over its predecessors while maintaining the exceptional print quality Formlabs is known for. It's an excellent choice for professionals in engineering, dental, and jewelry industries who need fast, accurate, and repeatable resin prints, though the total cost of ownership—including resins, tanks, and post-processing gear—remains a serious investment.

The Formlabs Form 4 represents the next evolution in professional desktop resin printing, engineering a significant leap forward from its predecessor while maintaining the accessibility that made Formlabs a household name in additive manufacturing. Built around a proprietary Low Force Stereolithography approach paired with a redesigned light engine, the Form 4 delivers print speeds up to twice as fast as the Form 3 series without sacrificing the fine detail and surface finish that engineers, dentists, jewelers, and product designers depend on. The printer utilizes an array of high-powered LEDs combined with a custom optical system to cure resin layer by layer with remarkable uniformity across the entire build platform, reducing the edge distortion and inconsistency that plagued earlier generation machines.
At the heart of the Form 4's appeal is its expanded build volume, which allows for larger single-part prints or higher-throughput batch production, making it suitable for both prototyping and low-volume manufacturing runs. The flexible resin tank and light-touch removable build platform continue Formlabs' tradition of thoughtful industrial design, simplifying the post-print workflow considerably. Compatible with an extensive library of engineering, dental, and casting resins, the printer adapts to wildly different use cases, whether that means producing biocompatible surgical guides, functional prototypes that mimic injection-molded plastics, or intricately detailed miniatures and jewelry patterns ready for investment casting.
Formlabs has also refined the surrounding ecosystem to match the hardware upgrade, with PreForm software offering intelligent support generation and print orientation suggestions that minimize material waste and post-processing time. The Form 4 integrates seamlessly with the Form Wash and Form Cure stations for automated cleaning and post-curing, rounding out a workflow designed for consistency and repeatability in professional settings. Wireless connectivity, remote monitoring through the Formlabs dashboard, and fleet management capabilities make the printer a natural fit for studios and businesses scaling their 3D printing operations, cementing the Form 4's position as a serious tool for serious resin printing work rather than a novelty for hobbyists alone.

The print quality is outstanding and the touchscreen interface is a nice upgrade. My only gripe is how quickly you burn through resin and tank costs when running it daily for prototyping.
Coming from budget printers, the reliability alone is worth it. No failed prints in weeks of near-constant use, and the automated resin system means less mess than I expected.
Detail resolution on intricate wax-like resin prints is superb. Wash and cure station is sold separately though, so factor that into your budget if you're starting fresh.
