Anycubic Photon Mono X2

The Anycubic Photon Mono X2 is a resin-based 3D printer built for hobbyists and small-scale creators who want professional-grade detail without a professional-grade learning curve. At its core sits a 9.1-inch monochrome LCD screen with a resolution of 5120 by 3200 pixels, delivering an extremely fine 22-micron XY pixel size that translates into crisp, sharp layers and smooth curved surfaces on finished prints. Anycubic paired this screen with a parallel light source system, which uses a matrix of LEDs combined with a Fresnel lens to ensure the UV light hitting the resin vat is evenly distributed across the entire build area. This uniformity means prints at the edges of the platform cure just as reliably as those in the center, reducing the warping and inconsistent detail that can plague cheaper monochrome LCD printers.

On the bench

Beyond the screen and light engine, the Photon Mono X2 offers a generous build volume of roughly 196 by 122 by 246 millimeters, giving users enough room to print larger single models like helmets, figurines, or multi-part cosplay props, or to fill the plate with dozens of smaller miniatures in one run. The machine features a dual linear rail Z-axis system that improves stability during printing, cutting down on layer shifting and wobble that can ruin long, detailed jobs. Anycubic also included an upgraded air filtration system with a carbon filter and quiet fan, which helps reduce the strong resin odor that typically fills a workspace, making the printer more comfortable to run indoors or in a shared studio setting.

Living with it

Practical workflow improvements round out the package, including a resizable, tool-free release build plate that simplifies removing finished prints without damaging delicate details, and a redesigned resin vat with a textured film intended to extend the life of the FEP layer and reduce failed prints from sticking. The touchscreen interface, powered by updated firmware, allows users to monitor print progress, adjust settings, and load files from a USB drive with minimal friction. Compatible with Anycubic's own Photon Workshop slicer as well as other third-party resin slicers, the Mono X2 fits comfortably into existing resin printing workflows while offering enough resolution and reliability to satisfy makers producing detailed miniatures, jewelry patterns, dental models, or engineering prototypes that demand precision over sheer print speed.
